After the closure of her bachelor's degree under Lenie van den Heuvel and Sasja Hunneo, young soprano Wendeline van Houten continued her master's degree at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Her coaches are the pianists Carolien Drewes and Peter Nilsson.

She participated in masterclasses with Nelly Miricioiu, Bo Skovhus, Derek Lee Ragin, Christiane Oelze, Malcolm Martineau, Kenneth Montgomery, Miranda van Kralingen and Margreet Honig. Recently she took part in the masterclass of Christa Ludwig and Jard van Nes organized by the International Vocal Competition ‘s Hertogenbosch.

In the recent past she made many a public appearance in opera. In Mosset (Opéra Mosset, France) she sang the role of Violetta in a program dedicated to Verdi, and in Offenbach's la Belle Hélène she performed the role of Parthénis. During the summer of 2014 she participated in  Korngold's operetta Die Stumme Serenade, a production of the Dutch National Opera Academy under the direction of Etienne Siebens.
In a project by Kenneth Montgomery she performed Mozart's concertaria Voi avete un cor fedele in the Dr Anton Philipszaal in The Hague

Whereas the oratories are concerned, Wendeline van Houten is an often to be seen performer. As a soloist Wendeline performed Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Bach's  St John Passion, Christmas Oratorio and
B-minor mass,
Händel's Messiah, Saint Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio and Rossini's Petite messe solonelle. Coming season she will perform in Bach's St Matthew Passion and Mozart’s Requiem.

In the spring of 2015 she performed as a soloist with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century in die Schöpfung of Haydn under the direction of Marcus Creed.

Together with actress Heike Wisse she realized ZINg!, a theater production for Artemis ('s Hertogenbosch) travelling theater.

Wendeline van Houten additionally sang several world premiers at the Young Composers Meeting 2011, and she was a soloist in several new compositions, performing with the Ensemble Royaal under the direction of Jurjen Hempel in The New Church in The Hague. In 2012 she could be heard and seen as a soloist at the world premiere of Dick van der Stoep's Markus' Passion. Wendeline also participated as a vocalist with the Kyteman Orchestra, touring the Netherlands and Germany.
